Life is full of stress and pressure – financial, relationship, and health concerns. I help people overcome anxiety by working to understand its underlying causes and applying effective approaches to reduce it.

 

It’s common to feel anxious when you focus on the worst case scenario of a situation coming true. This leads to a feeling of fear that you won’t be able to cope with a given situation. Fear can be read as an acronym for ‘False Evidence that Appears Real’, reminding us that much of our anxiety can be based on fear that is illusory.

 

These are some of the approaches I use to help reduce anxiety:

 

  • Learning techniques to relax at times of stress
  • Challenging negative thinking and replacing it with more healthy attitudes
  • Sharing feelings of anxiety rather than keeping them bottled up
  • Looking at proactive approaches to face fear-provoking issues, rather than avoiding them

 

There are also times when it can be helpful to address past traumatic experiences which may underlie the anxiety.
